Mississippi Gambler

Ingredients

  • Servings: 13
  • 8 medium lemons
  • 4 cups bourbon
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • fresh mint sprig (to garnish)
  • lemon slice (to garnish)

Recipe

  • 1 squeeze lemons, reserving rinds.
  • 2 measure 1 1/2 cups juice into a large freezer-proof jar.
  • 3 add bourbon,water and sugar and stir until sugar dissolves completely.
  • 4 add lemon rinds.
  • 5 cover and let stand at room temperature for 24 hours.
  • 6 squeeze rinds into bourbon mixture, then discard rinds.
  • 7 strain bourbon mixture and return to jar.
  • 8 cover jar and freeze for 24 hours.
  • 9 scoop slush into tall glasses.
  • 10 garnish with a mint sprig and lemon slice and serve immediately.
