Sautéed Green Beans And Onions With Bacon

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 lb fresh green beans
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 16 ounces cocktail onions, drained
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cider vinegar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Recipe

  • 1 trim green beans and cut in half.
  • 2 cook beans in boiling water for 4 minutes or until crisp-tender.
  • 3 rinse with cold water; drain and pat dry.
  • 4 cook bacon in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until crisp.
  • 5 remove bacon from pan, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings in pan.
  • 6 crumble bacon and set aside.
  • 7 add onions to drippings, cook 3 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • 8 add sugar and thyme, cook 3 minutes or until onions are golden brown.
  • 9 add beans and cook for 2 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
  • 10 add vinegar, salt and pepper; toss to coat.
  • 11 stir in crumbled bacon just before serving.
