  • 1 muddle the mint, strawberries and basil leaves in the bottom of a mixing glass with the syrup.

  • 1 pour 1 tablespoon/15 ml of vodka onto a small plate.
  • 2 place the grated chocolate on another small plate.

Lorraine's Luscious And Lovely Limoncello

Ingredients

  • Servings: 34
  • 750 ml vodka
  • 6 lemons
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 750 ml water

Recipe

  • 1 wash the lemons, using soap, rinse well.
  • 2 peel the lemons. i used my microplane zester and got lovely lemon zest, but you can also use a potato peeler. make sure not to get any of the bitter pith.
  • 3 place the peel into a bowl and cover with the vodka. i used a large tupperware bowl with a cover.
  • 4 let the lemons infuse in the vodka for one week.
  • 5 line a strainer with paper towels and strain the lemony vodka into a bowl that will hold more than twice its volume.
  • 6 mix the sugar with the water in a pot and let it come to a boil.
  • 7 boil for 2 minutes, giving it an occasional stir.
  • 8 let cool.
  • 9 add the sugar syrup to the lemon vodka and mix.
  • 10 place in your favorite bottle.
  • 11 keep the limoncello in the freezer (it won't freeze).

Red Devil Punch With Holiday Ice Cubes (cocktail Punch)

Ingredients

  • 40 pieces peppermint candies (see description)
  • 12 ounces orange juice
  • 12 ounces triple sec
  • 9 ounces vodka
  • 9 ounces amaretto (see recipe description for alternatives)
  • 9 ounces southern comfort
  • 9 ounces gin
  • 3 ounces grenadine

Recipe

  • 1 using several ice cube trays, place 1 peppermint (see description) into each cube and fill halfway with water (or any clear liquid such as wine, vodka, ginger ale, etc. freeze until solid. (use half red-half green peppermints for a great effect).
  • 2 pour enough water over frozen cubes to fill trays about 1/2 of the way up, and freeze until solid. add more water to top of tray and freeze again until solid. place frozen mint cubes in large ziplock bag until needed. note: if you don't have enough trays, once the cubes are fully frozen, place them into a freezer ziploc bag and repeat till you get enough cubes.
  • 3 about 2 hrs before (or at serving time), mix remaining ingredients together in a gallon jug, blend well and chill until needed. give a good shake and transfer to punchbowl, add peppermint ice cubes and serve.

John's Simple Appetizer

  • mayonnaise (enough to make a spreading consistency)

Double Chocolate Hot Chocolate

  • 5 ounces bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 2 ounces milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons jack daniels whiskey
  • marshmallows

Recipe

  • 1 in a medium bowl, combine the bittersweet chocolate with the milk chocolate. add the boiling water and let stand for 1 minute. whisk the chocolate mixture until smooth.
  • 2 in a small saucepan, bring the milk and heavy cream just to a simmer. add the chocolate mixture and whisk over medium heat until hot.
  • 3 remove the saucepan from the heat and add whiskey. pour the hot chocolate into demitasse cups or small mugs, garnish with marshmallows and serve.

Orange Tiger Martini

Ingredients

  • 5 dried apricots, coarsely chopped or 4 canned apricots
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 ounces grand marnier or 1 1/2 ounces cointreau liqueur
  • 1 large orange, juice of
  • 1 ounce heavy whipping cream
  • 1 1/2 ounces coconut milk
  • 1 1/2 ounces rum
  • 1/2 ounce golden rum
  • 1 dash angostura bitters (optional)
  • orange, ring garnish

Recipe

  • 1 place chopped apricots, brown sugar, 1 ounce of the grand marnier and 5 tablespoons of the orange juice in a small pot over low heat and simmer until thick and syrupy, stirring frequently. about 8-10 minutes for the apricot flavor to infuse the simple syrup. (if your apricots are very dry they will soak up more of the fluid, lower heat and add more juice.)
  • 2 strain syrup mixture pressing with the back of a spoon to release all the liquid.
  • 3 in a cocktail shaker filled with ice (or use two glasses that fit one inside the other) combine syrup solution with whipping cream, coconut milk, rums, remaining 1/2 ounce of grand marnier and 3 ounces of fresh squeezed orange juice. add a dash of bitters.
  • 4 vigorously shake and strain into a martini glass.
  • 5 serve. yum!

Louisiana Cocktail Sauce

  • 4 cups red currants, washed &, stemmed
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 4 cups raspberries
  • 7 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 (85 ml) packet liquid fruit pectin

Recipe

  • 1 using a potato masher, crush currants in a very large stainless steel or enamel saucepan.
  • 2 add water& bring to a boil over high heat.
  • 3 reduce heat, cover& boil gently for 10 minutes.
  • 4 add raspberries, return to a boil& boil gently for 3 minutes.
  • 5 strain mixture through a coarse sieve, pressing pulp to extract juice& discarding the solids.
  • 6 if you want, you can now pour the juice through a jelly bag (cheesecloth)- i'm lazy& don't do this!
  • 7 you should have 4 cups of juice - when i don't get that amount, i top up with cranberry cocktail - combine juice with sugar in a very large stainless steel or enamel saucepan.
  • 8 bring to a boil& boil hard, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
  • 9 remove from heat, stir in pectin& ladle into sterilized jars, leaving 1/2 inch head space.
  • 10 be sure to remove any air bubbles.
  • 11 place jars into boiling water in canner, add enough water to cover lids by 2 inches& return to boil.
  • 12 boil for 5 minutes.
  • 13 remove from canner, cool, label& store in cool, dark place.

Double Berry Martini

  • 1/2 cup vodka

  • 1 empty drink mix into large pitcher.
  • 2 add water, cranberry juice and vodka;stir until drink mix is completely dissolved. refrigerate at least 1 hour or until chilled.
  • 3 stir in club soda just before serving. spoon cranberries evenly into 6 martini glasses; top with the beverage mixture.

Bourbon And Berry Liqueur

  • 1 loaf very thin pepperidge farm bread (i have used sourdough and wheat before, but tastes the best) or 1 loaf other cocktail bread (i have used sourdough and wheat before, but tastes the best)
  • 1 cup margarine (i prefer butter) or 1 cup butter, at room temperature (i prefer butter)
  • 2 tablespoons dried orange peel
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (it is not as good if imitation is used and you can do this to taste)

Recipe

  • 1 lay bread slices (crusts on) on cookie sheets.
  • 2 mix all the other ingredients together and spread on each bread slice and spread thick. there shouldn't be any left over.
  • 3 cut each slice in 3 pieces (if you try to do two slices, it doesn't bake up as nice. i use my pizza cutter to slice these instead of a knife. whatever is easier for you).
  • 4 bake at 250 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • 5 makes approximately 75 pieces. let cool completely and store in an air tight container.

Succulent Shrimp/prawn Spread (no Bake)

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (or salad dressing)
  • 3 cups shrimp (cooked and roughly chopped) or 3 cups prawns (cooked and roughly chopped)
  • 1 cup seafood cocktail sauce (i use this kicked up cocktail sauce)
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped fine

  • 8 prawns, cooked with tails on for presentation (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 cream the first 3 ingredients together in a bowl. spread over a 12 inch (30 cm) pizza pan or flat platter. (note: i like to make a small lip around the edge so all the toppings stay inside).
  • 2 scatter shrimp over cheese mixture. add the rest of the ingredients sprinkled in these layers over cheese mixture and shrimp/prawns. seafood cocktail sauce (spread around), mozzarella cheese, green peppers, green onions and tomato.
  • 3 place presentation prawns over top of the spread.
  • 4 best served with crackers (i like wheat thins).

Emeril Lagasse's Sparkling Prosecco Cocktail

  • 2 add the cranberry juice, coconut rum, and grenadine into a cocktail shaker with ice. shake and strain into a prepared martini glass and serve. garnish with a candy cane.

  • 2 pour wine into gallon pitcher and put sliced fruits in it. stir.
  • 3 pour cooled syrup into the wine mixture and stir real good. refrigerate until ready to use.
  • 4 i usually take the fruits out after 3 days, if by some miracle it has not been all drunk up by then.
  • 5 you can use such cheap wine cause the fruits and sugar make the wine turn really good.

  • 1 throw frozen juice and bull together and blend. pretty straight forward.
  • 2 for more slush, return to freezer while you get your other morning chores done. after showering and all, it should be fairly solid.
  • 3 for night time, add vodka before blending. i reccomend sharing, because it'll melt awfully fast and downing it on your own is going to give you brain freeze. you can also serve it in a small rim glass like a frozen greyhound cocktail.

  • 1 (28 ounce) can mixed fruit or 1 (28 ounce) can fruit cocktail

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400°f butter sides and bottom of an 8 inch pie plate.
  • 2 beat 3 egg whites, 1/4 teaspoons cream of tartar,1/4 teaspoons salt and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla to form stiff peaks. add 3/4 cup of sugar beating until stiff and glossy.
  • 3 fold in 2 tablespoons of sifted cocoa.
  • 4 spread on bottom and sides of pie plate forming a shell. place in the preheated oven and turn off the heat. leave in oven overnight.
  • 5 one hour before serving mix 1/2 pint of heavy cream, 1/4 cup sifted cocoa, 1/2 cup icing sugar and a dash of salt. beat until stiff.
  • 6 fold in 1 can of drained fruit coctail and refrigerate.
  • 7 this is an excellent dessert and simple to make.

Orange Slush

  • 7 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 green tea bags
  • 12 ounces frozen orange juice
  • 12 ounces frozen lemonade
  • 2 cups vodka
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice

Recipe

  • 1 combine first 2 ingredients and bring to a boil in a small pan. stir till sugar is all dissolved. cool.
  • 2 bring 2 cups of water in small pan and bring to a boil. pour it over green tea bags in a small pitcher and let steep for 15 minutes.
  • 3 after tea has steeped and cooled, pour it into a non-metal freezer container or pitcher. stir in the orange juice, lemonade and vodka. put pitcher in freezer and leave in there till it forms a slush. stir every 20 minutes or so.
  • 4 while slush is forming, put one cup sugar and one cup water into a non-metal saucepan. stir till sugar is dissolved.
  • 5 add lemon and lime juices and stir well.
  • 6 chill this mixture in refrigerator.
  • 7 when ready to serve, pour a tall glass half full of the slushy mixture and half full of chilled sour mixture. serve with a mint leaf garnish if desired. drink:-) *don't drink and drive home tho:-).

Simple Syrup - Cranberry Orange For Champagne Cocktail

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cranberries, fresh, frozen
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ice cube
  • 1/4 cup cranberries, frozen for floating in your cocktail

Recipe

  • 1 place all ingredients except ice cubes in a medium sauce pan.
  • 2 bring to a boil, turn down the heat to med-high.
  • 3 cook for 2 minutes or until sugar is dissolved.
  • 4 remove from the heat and pour through a wire mesh strainer, pressing berries with the back of a spoon to release their juices.
  • 5 discard solids.
  • 6 stir in 1/2 c ice cubes to cool.
  • 7 freeze for 20 minutes to further cool.
  • 8 add 1 - 2 tablespoons to your favorite sparkling wine. i love prosecco.
  • 9 float a few frozen cranberries in the glass and watch them dance in the bubbles!

Herbal Brainstorm Rosemary-raspberry Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 1 quart water
  • 1/4 cup fresh rosemary leaves or 1/8 cup dry rosemary
  • 3 medium lemons
  • 1/4-1/2 cup honey or 1/4-1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries or 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • ice cube
  • fresh edible flower (to garnish)

Recipe

  • 1 make a rosemary infusion:.
  • 2 measure out 1-2 ounces (about 1/2-1 cup) of dried herbs per quart of boiling water. if using fresh herbs, double the amount of plant material. combine the herbs in a pot.
  • 3 pour 1 quart of boiling water over the herbs.
  • 4 strain, and sweeten lightly with honey if desired.
  • 5 make the lemonade:.
  • 6 after the rosemary infusion. stir, cover and allow to steep for 15-20 minutes.
  • 7 strain out the rosemary leaves, and add the fresh lemon and honey or maple syrup. stir well and transfer to a festive glass bowl.
  • 8 add the raspberries and ice cubes, and garnish with a few sprinkles of edible flowers such as basil blossoms, borage, calendula, lavender, rose petals or nasturtiums).
