Hot Buttered Bourbon And Cider

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 cups fresh apple cider
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled
  • 3/4 cup bourbon
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • ground nutmeg

Recipe

  • 1 bring the first 5 ingredients to a simmer in a medium saucepan. remove from heat; cover and let steep for about 5 minutes.
  • 2 add 2 t. chilled butter to saucepan; bring to a simmer. remove from heat.
  • 3 stir in bourbon and lemon juice. strain into a large measuring cup.
  • 4 divide hot cider among 4 mugs. cut 1 t. butter into 4 pieces. add 1 piece to each mug. sprinkle nutmeg over.
