Mulled Tea Punch

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 3 tea bags
  • 32 ounces cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 20 whole allspice
  • 20 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks, broken in half (3-inch pieces)
  • 750 ml dry red wine
  • oranges slices studded with whole cloves (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 in a teapot or small heatproof bowl, pour boiling water over tea bags; cover and let stand 5 minutes.
  • 2 remove tea bags.
  • 3 in a large saucepan, combine cranberry juice cocktail, brown sugar, allspice, cloves and cinnamon sticks. bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. reduce heat; simmer for 15 minutes.
  • 4 remove spices.
  • 5 stir in tea and wine; heat through.
  • 6 serve hot in mugs. garnish with orange slices studded with cloves if desired.
