Mulled Tea Punch

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 2 cups boiling water
- 3 tea bags
- 32 ounces cranberry juice cocktail
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 20 whole allspice
- 20 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks, broken in half (3-inch pieces)
- 750 ml dry red wine
- oranges slices studded with whole cloves (optional)
Recipe
- 1 in a teapot or small heatproof bowl, pour boiling water over tea bags; cover and let stand 5 minutes.
- 2 remove tea bags.
- 3 in a large saucepan, combine cranberry juice cocktail, brown sugar, allspice, cloves and cinnamon sticks. bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. reduce heat; simmer for 15 minutes.
- 4 remove spices.
- 5 stir in tea and wine; heat through.
- 6 serve hot in mugs. garnish with orange slices studded with cloves if desired.
