Blue Ginger Gimlet

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces vodka, well chilled
  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces ginger syrup (recipe follows)
  • lime wedge, for garnish
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 2 cups fresh ginger, cut into 1/8-inch slices
  • 2 cups water

Recipe

  • 1 in a cocktail shaker, combine all ingredients with ice. shake well and strain into a martini glass. garnish with lime wedge.
  • 2 for the ginger syrup:.
  • 3 in a medium saucepan over high heat, combine sugar, ginger and water and bring to a boil. reduce heat and simmer until syrupy and reduced by half, about 40 to 45 minutes. strain ginger pieces out and reserve syrup.
  • 4 (trick: toss dried ginger in sugar, bake at 200 degrees until dried thru, about 4 hours and voila-ginger candy).
