Nutty Fruit Cocktail Cake

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup pecans
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 15 ounces fruit cocktail, with 3 tbsp liquid reserved
- 1/4-1/2 cup brown sugar
Recipe
- 1 drain off liquid of fruit cocktail reserving 3 tbsp of the liquid.
- 2 combine flour, sugar, pecans, baking soda, salt and fruit cocktail with reserved liquid.
- 3 pour into an 8x8 greased and floured pan.
- 4 sprinkle top with brown sugar.
- 5 bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. check for doneness at 45 minutes.
- 6 can subsitute different nuts for different tastes. i have found that 1/4 c is enough brown sugar. we love this with french vanilla ice cream!
